Tis true! After 18 hours of grueling travel, I arrived at the London Heathrow Airport. My driver found me and dropped me off at my residence at Butler Court. Unfortunately the office was closed, so I hung out in the hallway for about an hour and a half with some other Americans who had arrived earlier before I was moved in.
My room (pictures to come) is spacious and has it's own sink. There are baths and showers and toilets in random rooms throughout the different levels. On either side of me is a bath and toilet and a shower and toilet. My room has a bed, a desk, a 2 small sets of drawers, a night stand, and a wardrobe.
Since Butler Court works like a mini hotel, they loaned me bed clothes and towels till I can get some of my own. Yesterday was a bank holiday, and a lot of things were closed. I did have enough energy to pop by the grocery store, which is across the street, and meet a few of my neighbors, who are really nice so far.
After that I made some food, tried to unpack what I had (none of my packages that I mailed have arrived yet), and went to bed early to catch up on sleep. I woke up around 11pm and took a sleeping pill and closed my windows (I had them open because my room smelled mildy of men's cologne) and went back to bed.
I'm trying to figure out the bus station, where everything is, and get my stuff situated. There's an internet cafe about 2 blocks from my room, and I'm sure once I start school I'll be able to use the computers there. Also, I can get wireless hooked up in my room, so I think my 2 neighbors and I are going to share that. I haven't asked about the phone yet, but there is a telephone in my room, which the line hasn't been hooked up to.
As far as expenses go, things seem to be about the same in the supermarket. I've bought some of my bedding and towels, but there are still some things I need to get. I need to buy clothes hangers before I can hang up most of my clothes that are piled in my wardrobe.
There's a methodist church one block away from my room; I'm going to try to go in sometime this week and see what their schedule is like.
It's good to know that I am safe and healthy and missing you all already.
I haven't cried yet, but I might later. I had a moment last night when I think I was having a little mini panic attack, but I just kept breathing and singing the song "I lift my eyes up, up to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from You, maker of Heaven, Creator of the Earth." And it's true. I'll be ok, because I know God is with me.
If you want to email me, my email is hipybohemiannerd@gmail.com, or you can comment on here (but everyone can see it).
Hopefully I'll have some time to take pictures and post them soon. Cheers!
