The weekend we almost went to Brussels and ended up in Ireland... except that we didn't...

So this weekend has been... interesting. After a 2.5 hours of traveling by bus, train, and subway, we made it to Stansted Airport carrying our bags, to be told that we had missed checkin by 2 minutes!

Now why didn't you plan ahead and make sure you would get there on time, you ask... ugh, we did.

I was supposed to meet 2 girls at the train station on the platform to take the train to the airport. One girl missed the bit about on the platform and we missed the train that would have gotten us there early. Then once we were together, the 35 minute train actually took an hour to get to the airport and by the time we had RUN upstairs (literally) it was too late. No later flights, no planes till tomorrow morning, and going anywhere else was too expensive because last minute tickets are astronomical.

So defeated and tired we hauled ass back to the Liverpool street station to find some food and make our way home. To make the night even more fun, we couldn't find the country code to call the hostel and cancel our reservations, once we did get it, the number wouldn't work. Bah! Then, in our ravenous search for a restaurant, we wandered aimlessly around only to find miscellanous private parties all over and no restaurants anywhere, except fast food.

When we did find a little corner pub that sold food, we went upstairs and had a drink and ordered some dinner. We heard cheering from downstairs and thought Rugby must be on. A good rugby match can cancel many evils... so Martha and I ran downstairs only to be confronted by a bar full of cheering French people, with England losing to France 20 to 3.... BOOO HISS!!!! Dismayed and dejected we climbed back up the stairs... this night totally blows!!!!!

Luckily, not all was lost. On Saturday we took the train into Cambridge and spent a lovely day exploring the colleges and the town. Hung out at the Prince Regent pub and played cards after buying really cute hats and taking dramatized pictures all over. It was lovely.

More later, dear friends!

Cheers!
